Licences qualify you to undertake activities where you are to a greater or lesser extent responsible for the safety of others. Licences are granted by the IHPA on an annual basis on the understanding that the person being licenced maintains their IHPA membership and undertakes to abide by the conditions set down in the IHPA Technical Manual for qualification. Pilots seeking a licence or the renewal of a licence should contact the IHPA Training & Flight Safety Officer with (for new licences) details of their training and contact information for the facilitating school or instructor for verification. The following licences are currently available to IHPA members:

• Instructor PG/HG - Permits the holder to instruct students in a particular dicipline.
• Trainee Instructor - Permits the holder to assist in the day to day instruction of students while under the supervision of an instructor.
• Coach PG/HG     - Permits the holder to assist Novice Pilots (SP/PP3+) to fly safely and improve their skills, knowledge and understanding.
• Tandem PG/HG   - Permits the holder to take a single passenger flying using suitable equipment.
• Winch Operator   - Permits the holder to operate a winch system and to instruct pilots for their Winch endorsement.
