School: Pre Vol Delta Location: St. Hilaire du Touvet in the French Alps Course Details: You will need to do their "First Flight Package" as a minimum. Excellent weather/training site/safety record + cheap flights/accommodation + great scenery! All round best value. If you have time, try to get in as many extra solo flights as possible before returning to Ireland, they will pay off when you start flying from the hills here. Getting There: Fly to Lyon and take the train to St. Hilaire or Fly to Paris and take the TGV train to Grenoble (3hrs) just 25km from St.Hilaire. You can get very cheap flights to France if you search around, or you could combine your training trip with a family holiday in the area. A number of our pilots have completed their initial training in France and recommend it highly. Location: Cornwall, in the south of England Course Details: You will need to do both the EP and CP courses. If the course is tow or winch based then you must also complete a Hill Launch Conversion course - this is essential in order to be able to launch safely in Ireland as all our flying sites are hill launch sites.
School: Airways Airsports - France
Location: Laragne, in the French Alps - possibly the single best place in Europe to fly hang gliders!
Course Details: Chris Dawes and Judy Leden, who also run Airways Airsports UK, have started a new flight park and training facility near Laragne to take advantage of the excellent weather conditions for training and flying. Unlike the UK, the weather in Laragne is suitable for training and flying almost all year round. For details of their courses and prices, visit Airways Airsports UK. You will need to complete their CPC - Club Pilot Course and Hill Conversion Course as a minimum.
Getting There: Aer Lingus and Ryanair fly in to Marseille from Dublin. You can either hire a car and drive up to Laragne on the motorway (about 1.5hrs) or take the train from Marseille directly to Laragne. You can see a train time table here. Marseille airport is a good distance from the city, so you will need to get a bus or taxi to the train station. A 'navette' runs every 30 minutes from Marseille airport to either Aix en Provence bus station or Marseille train station. Details are available on the Marseille Airport website.

For those on a tighter budget there are rooms, caravans and mobile homes to rent at the fully serviced and excellent Camping-Monteglin, where you can also pitch a tent for next to nothing.
