Google Earth: If you have a reasonably fast computer you can view Irish Air Space as a 'layer' in Google Earth by downloading the Ireland.sua file. The airspace 'layer' will appear in Google Earth in the 'My Places' tab. Save it in the Google Earth viewer and it will be there for you whenever you need it - just remember to switch on the airspace layer. This is a very powerful tool that allows you to tilt, pan, zoom and rotate the map to see the extent and depth of the airspace restrictions. When you view the airspace layer you will see marker spots inside each and every area of airspace. Clicking on these markers will tell you the type of airspace and the altitude restrictions that apply for that area. Click here to see a sample view of Cork and Shannon airspace. Incidentally, you can also download airspace maps for almost any country around the world from Lloyd Bailey's website. The same may also be done for all the flying sites in the Sites Guide, which is available to members.
Detailed aeronautical charts (1:250,000 and 1:500,000) are available from the OSI Map Sales Shop and from EuroPilot (they accept Laser cards) or Pooleys UK.
This airspace overlay is provided for general reference only and may not be accurate You must consult an up to date VFR chart for accurate airspace information. Please note that this map and airspace overlay are being rendered over the internet it is *much* faster when running GoogleEarth on your own PC!
